As many will have experienced, it can be quite hard to hear over radio sometimes if you're in a busy situation, or hard to hear because the radio is talking. Some whitelist jobs such as PD and EMS require you to stay on radio so turning it off, often isn't an option. It would be helpful to be able to turn the radio volume up and down when needed
